Lionfish removals help control the invasion.
Learn how to safely collect and handle lionfish today!
REEF conducts FREE Lionfish Collection and Handling Workshops!
At each workshop, REEF staff will cover the background of the invasion, biology/ecology of lionfish, impacts, and current research findings, as well as a hands-on lesson in how to safely collect and handle lionfish using hand nets, polespears and zookeepers and a two-tank FWC-sponsored dive charter to test out your skills. REEF will also cover the many ways that you can combat the lionfish invasion underwater, and on land. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to obtain a permit which allows you to remove lionfish with HAND NETS ONLY within Sanctuary Preservation Areas within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
Experienced and novice lionfish collectors are encouraged to attend. Attendance is FREE. Reserve your space today for upcoming workshops! Walk-ins are always welcome but space is limited.
