Marine Invertebrate Identification for Divers

New England Aquarium and REEF 10th Annual Great Annual Fish Count at Stage Fort Park, Gloucester, MA.  There will also be a picnic, raffles and touch tank.  See www.neadc.org/gafc/ for current information.

Make it a weekend and join us on Sunday July 10th for the REEF Pacific Northwest Invetrebrate class 8 am to 12; with two survey dives to follow starting at 1 pm. Classes to be held at Yellow House Hoodsport Washington. Survey paper and slates will be available for use. Hood Canal, WA

Classes are free but you will need to pay entrance fee to Sund Rock should you choose to participate in the dives.

Attend Reef Fish Identification Class 8 am to 12, then join in for 2 survey dives at Sund Rock Marine preserve. Dives in the afternoon starting 1 pm. Classes to be held at Yellow House Hoodsport Washington. Classes are free of charge but you must register in advance. Survey paper and slates will be available for use.

Join REEF for a Free Fish ID and GAFC Survey Class presented by Lad Akins. This event will be held at REEF HQ on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 6:30pm. (no scheduled dive)
Join Reef Watch Waikiki to learn about the REEF survey method and how to identify fish! The class will begin at 3 pm and will last until 5pm. The class includes instruction on how to complete the REEF survey method followed by basic coral reef ecology, fish biology, identification tips, and specific information about different fish families. This will take place on the 7th floor conference room in the Waikiki Trade Center, 2255 Kuhio Avenue
Snorkelers and divers are welcome to come out for a local Great Annual Fish Count community event. This is a beach dive at Commercial Pier and starts at 12:00 noon. Bring a buddy, your gear, tanks and slates. Take these weeks ahead to study your fish and get ready for the big day at the end of the month. A quick Fish ID class will be given for those interested.
Horizon Divers at 100 Ocean Drive in Key Largo, FL will host a Fish ID Class from 10:00am to noon on Saturday, July 11th, followed by an afternoon dive and fish survey. Fish ID and survey materials will be provided for the afternoon dives. The cost for the afternoon dive is $80.00 per person, which includes tank and weights.
Alecia Adamson will be presenting an introductory Fish ID Course at the Key Largo Library on Tuesday, July 6th, 2010. It will start at 12:30 and will last approximately 2 hours. This is a great opportunity for divers to learn their fish identification skills necessary for participating in the Great Annual Fish Count Survey and to get more info on REEF programs.

Conch Republic divers will be hosting The Great Annual Fish Count Reef Survey on July 17th. The dive boat will depart at 1:00 pm from the Tavernire Creek Marina in Tavernire, FL Keys so please arrive by 12:30 to prepare for the survey. There will also be a Fish ID briefing on the way to the dive spot. The cost is $75.00 per person, which includes Tank and Weights.
