REEF, Fish & Friends is a monthly seminar series (held every second Tuesday) co-sponsored by REEF and the Sanctuary Friends Foundation that revolves around marine life and Diving that Counts.  Snorkelers, divers and natural history buffs are invited to entertaining presentations by guest speakers, join informal discussions, and enjoy some laid-back, Keys-style fun with friends who share your passion.

Social will begin at 6:30pm and the presentation will span from 7:00-8:00pm.

Join the REEF staff and volunteers for an evening of holiday cheer at our open house social.  Paul Humann will be there to sign books and meet and greet guests. There will also be great raffle prizes, a silent auction, and complimentary food and drinks, as well as the REEF store being open for holiday shopping!

This event will be located at the REEF Headquarters Office located at MM98.3 in the median.

Fish & Friends events are free and open to the public.

 

Come to a Fish ID Seminar to learn the 50 most common fish in the Tropical Western Atlantic region.  This class includes an interactive presentation, a chance to become a REEF member, and the opportunity to join a guided field survey dive.

This workshop is intended for dive professionals and avid recreational divers interested in obtaining a permit to collect lionfish in the Sanctuary Preservation Areas. These workshops are sponsored by REEF and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. The workshop presentation will cover the history and progression of the invasion, an overview of lionfish biology and ecology, safe handling and collection techniques, and first aid.

Divers successfully removed 675 invasive lionfish from Florida Keys waters on August 20, during the upper Florida Keys derby of the Second Annual Florida Keys Lionfish Derby Series in Key Largo, Fla., organized by Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) and the FL Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS).

Join REEF on Saturday August 13th for the Palm Beach County Lionfish Derby!

A good time was had by all who participated in the Third Annual Lionfish Derby at Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas on June 24th and 25th, 2011.    The event was held at the Green Turtle Club, whose sponsorship, along with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Brendals Dive Center, REEF and numerous donors from Palm Beach County, Florida make this one of the most exciting competitions of the summer.
