Ocean Pro Divers is now a REEF (Reef Environmental Education Foundation) Field Station.  REEF was founded in 1990, out of growing concern about the health of the marine environment, and the desire to provide the SCUBA diving community a way to contribute to the understanding and protection of marine populations. REEF achieves this goal primarily through its volunteer fish monitoring program, the REEF Fish Survey Project. Participants in the Project not only learn about the environment they are diving in, but they also produce valuable information. Scientists, marine park staff, and the general public use the data that are collected by REEF volunteers.

Membership in REEF is free and we encourage you to join up now!  Once you join, you can participate in the Volunteer Survey Project to help track and document marine populations in our local area.  To help you get started, Ocean Pro Divers will be offering complementary Introductory Courses in Fish ID for all volunteers to help you be more accurate in your survey activities.

To learn more about the REEF Organization join us on our REEF Orientation Night on May 30.  Starting at 7pm, we will be kicking off the evening with a primer in Pacific Northwest Fish Identification. We will introduce the REEF organization and introduce our schedule of survey events.  There is no cost to the event - and you have the opportunity to complete your Project Aware - Fish ID course if you like!  Please RSVP to Shaz as seating is limited.
