PNW GAFC: Saltwater State Park, Washington State
Join Friends of Saltwater State Park, a REEF Conservation Partner, for a Great Annual Fish Count event at Saltwater State Park in Washington State. Join fish and invertebrate identification presentations that will cover how to find and identify common species in the Pacific Northwest. Everyone is welcome, whether you are a marine-life enthusiast, underwater photographer, a beginning surveyor wanting to achieve REEF PNW Experience Level 2, or if you just want a refresher.
Camping, picnicking and light refreshments are available at the park. A Washington State Park Discovery Pass is required for entry at Saltwater State Park, or a day pass can be purchased at the entry booth for $10.
The schedule is as follows:
July 13, 11am-4pm Fish Identification presentation, located at the Snack Shack at Saltwater State Park
July 14, 11am-4pm Invertebrate presentation, located at the Snack Shack at Saltwater State Park
The tides are good for a low-tide dive at 9:30am, or for a high-tide dive from 4-8pm. If you want to conduct REEF surveys on your dive, make sure to order your PNW REEF Starter Kit in advance of the event.
