Join us for a engaging evening as author and artist, Cynthia (Cindy) Shaw, teaches us the secrets of drawing one of the prettiest grouper in the ocean— the Nassau Grouper! This fish is also the target species of the Grouper Moon Project.

The Grouper Moon Project is a conservation science partnership between Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) and the Cayman Islands Department of Environment (DoE) with scientists from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego and Oregon State University, aimed at studying Nassau Grouper (Epinephelus striatus) - a social and ecological corner stone of the Caribbean's coral reefs.

Cindy has participated in the project by educating Cayman schools about the Nassau Grouper through her drawing lessons. She also authored and illustrated the book Grouper Moon, available in the REEF store. This book follows the dynamic story of a Nassau Grouper named Cooper and highlights the reality of conservation issues for this species.
