Definitely a pipefish, but they can be very hard to identify.  This looks very much like one of the unidentified pipefish's on the Paul Humann Reef Fish DVD.

Thanks..  I saw it again in the same location today.. I'll have to try to get better photos.. if it isn't in the 'large' Reef Fish, I'll have to order the dvd's.

It's on the DVD, but is lumped in with several "Unidentified" pipefishes.  I don't know if you would have better luck at fishbase.org.

Thanks I will look there first.. Only one more day of diving.. then back home - where the water's always cold.. I'll see what I can find at fishbase.org .. thanks for the tip
