Juvenile Grunt?

I think this is a juvenile grunt, but am not sure. Perhaps a cottonwick?

The little guy is about 1 inch long.

Now that you mention that as a possible ID I can see that the head/mouth structure is bass-like.

I did see adult sand perch on the same dive so I think you are probably correct in identifying this as a

juvenile.
