Any suggestions for this fish?

It was seen January 2011 in Xel ha, (Carribean sea, in Mexico) at about 6 feet. I am not sure of the size but I remember thinking it was larger than most fish in the area. Guessing its around a foot and a half long. The pictures not the clearest but it looks like it has a funny shaped head with what could be blue on its face. It has both black and white bars, but I can't tell if there is a strip down the body?
